All Poop, All The Time

Is it my imagination, or has this been a pervasive theme in comics over the past few weeks?

Then again I think most of the comics have been Argyle Sweater, so maybe Scott Hilburn has been having issues — or, like Bil Keane claims to do, getting some of his ideas from his six-year-old son.

(More of the Ewww Files here)

And no doubt inspired by this strip…

  1. It has been in the Argyle Sweater – Maybe Scott fall back on poop jokes when he has got nothing else. After all — poop and fart jokes almost always get a chuckle

  2. I don’t know if this helps explain anything or not, but in his blog he wrote that he recently experienced a very personal loss. Perhaps in this time of grieving, poop jokes are an easy way for him to keep working without putting too much pressure on himself to be clever.

Regardless, I still think the guy’s a genius.

  3. I’m wondering if he’s just getting out some frustrations by focusing on poop and the way these anthropopathic bugs are not only drawn to it but are so totally focused on it as if it makes up the whole of their existence -much like humans get focused on a lot of ‘crap’ for no good reason, getting their priorities out of order. It’s not like the bugs need to wait for it or go looking for it or try to harvest it, it’s already all around them. Kind of like the media looking for news by buzzing around Brittany Spears.

  4. I agree with Amberosia. Agyle Sweater is one of the closest things to the Far Side that we have. Veryy yoff beat and funny.

So — poop away Mr. Hillburn .. poop away
