The dwarfs need a sitter because they’re short? Or am I missing something?

  1. Well, yes… Snow White lives with a bunch of very small people. Which are being confused with children (who need a sitter) to make a joke. A lame joke, a failed joke, a quick throw-away joke, the author’s best attempt at a joke – but nothing more than that (as far as I can see).

    Why do you think there’s more than that?

  2. This strip is something of a test of your knowledge of Disney Princesses – partly because, frankly, it isn’t drawn all that well. I had real trouble with the fourth one from the left, but there’s only one Princess it could be. No problem with Ariel, obviously.

  3. (from L to R) Sleeping Beauty, the Little Mermaid, Belle (Beauty & The Beast), Jasmine (Aladdin), Cinderella. Not pictured: Snow White.

    The “joke” about the dwarfs needing a sitter is lame and ruins a fairly clever set-up. Some other excuses SW might have given:

    * She and Dopey are getting high.
    * Doc’s giving her a pap smear.
    * Happy’s on the roof and threatening to jump.
    * She’s taking Grumpy to Anger Management class.
    * Sneezy gave her influenza.

    Can’t think of any for Sleepy and Bashful.

  4. I immediately figured that it was an “after the movie” where the ladies have settled in to be mothers. Kind of like the fairy tale ending with suburbia – two kids and a minivan, miss the bridge club because you couldn’t find a sitter.

  5. This strip, which was always hit and miss to begin with, is almost consistently miss anymore. Once in a great while he’ll come up with something ROTF, but mostly it’s unfunny puns and lame pop culture references (like this one) with no point.

  6. NO! She is married to all seven dwarfs, and has like a jillion kids, and will never find a sitter!

  7. The really sad thing about this is that the drawing and coloring is, for MG&G, very involved. He spent a lot of time getting the princesses (sort of) right. All in the service of a “joke” that isn’t even a tiny bit funny. I do like the various facial expressions, though. Jasmine looks utterly vacant. “Gosh. My hair is really shiny.”

  8. So, what? This is the princess’s weekly “sit around on a couch by the telephone” night? C’mon ladies — where’s the margaritas??

  9. In response to Mollie, I suppose he does get credit for getting all the colors right. =)
