  1. Probably related to the BBC story from a year ago that cows have regional accents?

    Still not funny though.

  2. He’s a Texas longhorn. He’s going to sound like Dubya.

  3. Brevity != remotely funny

    Incidently, I AM from Texas, and I’ve never had anything close to the accents you see on TV. I’m a city boy, and I do say “y’all” a lot, but what does annoy me is when I meet out-of-staters who say “You don’t sound like a Texan. Say something Texan!”

    How about I say something New York instead?

  4. He should do a followup joke about one of those huge hairy Scottish cows, or “grite hairy coos” as their owners call them. Can’t understand a word they say with that Glaswegian burr….

  5. Am I the only one who remembers “Accent”? MSG in a shaker. My mother used to buy it when I was a kid, to put on our meat. I have no idea whether it’s still sold.

  6. I was on a trip through “the continent” with some classmates years ago. In Germany, one of my classmates felt compelled to roll down a window and shout “Moo!” at the cows. The others corrected him, insisting that German cows say “Mü!”

  7. I like to think of the bovine that’s speaking as a Jersey cow. That way, it has a thick Northeast accent.

  8. Horns are an accent, in the decorative sense.

  9. The new guys a Texas longhorn. The others are jersey cows. The lonhorn’s got a Texas accent.
    PS nobody in Texas sounds like Dubya.
    I realze this is an old thread but I figured no one had really explained it…

  10. And here’s why I think it’s so great that Bill added the recent comments widget – without it, it is unlikely that anyone (other than Bill) would ever see Layla’s comment.

    Personally, I think Dave’s explanation is best.
