Just sayin’…

Where the hell do the Gilchrists buy their gardening supplies???

With a track record like that, would you brag?

Okay, at least we’re not talking about a strip that should have run 47 years ago; but seriously, either two weeks ago or not at all, you know?

Heck of a thing to mention to the kid who just learned he is your “mistake.”

I’m just sayin’…

  1. I don’t even know where to begin with the “Jump Start” strip. The only way Armstrong could get a marriage counselor into the story is by using a GENIE? Maybe Joe and Marcy’s marriage is so magical, that’s the only being who could work on it….
The Harry Potter one? Yes, two weeks late. It’s clearly labelled for August 4, though. Maybe they didn’t advertise the release date well enough and the author missed it…
“Winkerbean”? Woo! I agree: warning the girlfriend of YOUR mistake not to make her own mistake…kinda brings it all full circle, huh?

  2. The genie just said he’s seen it all before – not that he’s a magic fix-all (miracles are evidently beyond his power).

  3. The only problem with that Funky Winkerbean cartoon is that Darin wasn’t a mistake. Lisa didn’t ‘forget’ to use contraceptive – she was date-raped.

  4. IIRC, Charlene, the date-rape business was retconned in a few years ago. Maybe Batuik decided to go back to the original history.

  5. Ah. I didn’t see the original.

    Gotta love retconning.

  6. I’m not sure what Nancy and Sluggo have to do with teenage sex, but the “grass” that’s $20/pound (that must be the wholesale price) obviously isn’t the kind of grass that one normally associates with a kiddie comic strip.

  7. Perhaps Lisa Moore is trying to say: give a kid up for adoption like I did, and you’ll DIE OF CANCER JUST LIKE ME!!

    (ok, probably not….)

The Jump Start that blew my mind is the one before this one: rubbing the lamp, Rob says “I hope it’s a genie!” and Marcy says “I hope it’s a marriage counselor!” Were I Rob, I’d be more than a little peeved…
