Getting Soaked

I wonder whether cartoonists Terry and Patty LaBan know that this isn’t a joke: We’ve been to at least one amusement park — I’m not naming names — where they did this exact thing.

Though to be fair they did offer you the opportunity to buy a thin rain slicker before the ride, for less than a set of dry clothing would cost you afterward

  1. This reminds me of the time my stick-in-the mud water wouldn’t go on Splash Mountain because he didn’t want to get wet. About 5 minutes after the rest of us got off the ride the heavens opened up and he got soaked anyway. Bravo for life’s little ironies.

  2. I go on water rides assuming I’m going to be walking around dripping for a while afterwards. Isn’t that part of it?

  3. Just because someone is really doing it doesn’t mean that it isn’t a joke.

  4. I thought it was more situational humor than a “what if?” joke. You know, where it’s funny because it’s true.

My cousins and I used to ride the water rides in Great America and then go to the Cajun Cliffhanger where you spin around and the ground drops out beneath you leaving you pinned to the wall. It was a nice recreation of being in a clothes dryer.
