  1. Simple absurdity — the survivors are glaring at the dolphin for taking up a spot in the lifeboat when he could just as easily go swim off somewhere.

  2. As opposed to dolphins rescuing people who become shipwrecked, people who are shipwrecked have “rescued” a dolphin.

  3. I’m not sure why it’s funny, but it is to me! Absurdity.

  4. F-Minus is all about the eyebrows to me, maybe more than any other strip. They just crack me up.

  5. What is even more absurb is the fact that the woman is not only in a boat with a dolphin, but her traveling companions appear to be the Three Stooges.

  6. I’m wondering if maybe the dolphin caused it somehow. He (she?) does have a kind of sheepish expression on his/her face/snout.

Oh, and is it just me, or does the guy in the front look like Bobby Hill from the ‘King of the hill’ cartoon?

  7. I expect that dolphin is going to be dolphin meat if they’re in that lifeboat for long.

  8. Given that her boatmates are the Three Stooges and a dolphin, the phrase “ship of fools” comes to mind.

  9. The people seem to be sitting, but I think the dolphin’s bottom half is piercing the boat. Unless that’s how the dolphin got in the boat – by popping straight through the bottom. This is one of the few comics that I have absolutely no explanation on. My only thought is that since they all appear to be upset with the dolphin that the dolphin either caused the boat to sink or as Powers said that the dolphin is taking up boat space needlessly. They don’t appear to be too cramped, though. Maybe the dolphin also ate all of their reserves.
