Comics That Made Me Laugh Out Loud: September

Peter Byrnes and I shared this selection:

Consider this a runner-up: didn’t make me LOL, but a definite 🙂thatslife-moms.jpg

Autumn Harvest sent this one:

Nicole: As someone who who works in a cubicle and somewhat into animal rights this TOTALLY made me laugh out loud:

Also from Nicole:

And finally… this isn’t a CIDU or a Comic That Made Me Laugh, but I wanted to give special mention to a clever political cartoon:horsey.gif

  1. My favorites here are “Get Fuzzy” (runaway winner) and “That’s Life.” The “Lio” one was cute, though.

Elsewhere: I had no idea Fred Thompson’s wife was so hot. I did a quick Yahoo image search, and the cartoon is indeed accurate. Yowza! Why was Elizabeth Edwards the only one to get an unflattering caricature? That seems unfair. The cartoonist seems to favor Mitt Romney’s cyborg bride. Notice how that crafty rascal Clinton not only copies her catchphrase but also her hand gestures. Kudos to the cartoonist for NOT doing a joke in which Bill hits on these women. The punchline could easily have been: “I’ve been married to the same wonderful… Aw, screw it! Any of you broads wanna accompany me back to Econo Lodge? There’s champale in the minifridge!” But that would have been a cheap shot and a hack joke.

  3. Joe, you’re right about Mrs. Edwards’ caricature – she looks like Liz Smith. But while you rightly point out the cartoonist’s discretion with Clinton, I’m more concerned with Mrs. Obama. The senator may have been endorsed by Oprah, but he’s not married to her.

  4. I noticed that yesterday, 9/29 from my Houston Chronicle page, was one of the best single-day collections I had seen in a really long time. Of course there were many duds, but the ones that worked WORKED!

  5. I generally don’t like Pearls Before Swine (although, as a tacky, edgy young person, I know I should), but this one made me actually laugh out loud.

I like this one, too, not so such the joke itself as the way the drawing style and the timing work together

Similarly, the timing on this one, too

  6. Did the Garfield strip you used to have here stop making you laugh? [accidentally got deleted; it’s back now; thanks for the catch – Bill]
