Note to Mr. Billingsly: Always check to see whether reality has already surpassed what you think is a crazy idea.

  1. That preacher who you linked to? His delivery is absolutely awful. Why don’t seminaries get the Toastmasters in to teach the studying vicars how to deliver a sermon effectively? Don’t stand there with your nose in your notes–ENGAGE the congregation.

    Graah.

  2. Well, you know, 99% of his congregation is on YouTube. What can you expect?

  3. My thought when I read this was, Curtis’ idea would probably work to interest and attract young people, IF it was done well. Sadly, few adults know how to do stuff that will really interest young people. So you get stiff sermons rather than something fun and engaging. This one was funny because, sadly, it’s too true.

  4. Is it just me or do the surfaces in this strip — the wals, the door, the desk — change color every panel?

  5. Maybe a better way to attract young people to the congregation is to not throw them out on their butt when they willingly come in to talk.
