Optimus Nancy

Unless Mini Coopers are actually chia cars, I’m not seeing the connection here.

  1. I believe the connection is “cute”. A transformer always retains aspects of its parts. Usually, it’s in the car to anthropomorphic direction, but Nancy’s new to the concept.

  2. Mini Coopers and VW Bugs have a reputation for being “girl” cars even though plenty of men drive them. Not sure why exactly.

  3. I.hate.Nancy. But that looks more like a pig than a car to me.

  4. The funny part here is that Transformers (in the movies and cartoons) usually transform into something cool/buff/tough-looking. While Sluggo would no doubt envision a mechanized, souped-up, heavy metal machine, Nancy (girly-girl that she is) imagines a cute little car.

  5. One of the Mini Cooper’s ad campaigns was to customize the roof with different graphics. Nancy customized the roof to match her hair style.

  6. Oddly, I once wrote a blog post that Arcee, one of the few female Transformers, would better be portrayed as a small car than a motorcycle (proposed transformation). I guess cars like the Mini Cooper are just “feminine,” I suppose.

Also, the transformation reminds me a lot of the 80’s cartoon “Turbo Teen.”

  7. What kind of car would Aunt Fritzi turn into? Hmm.

  8. You beg a good question, though. Why hasn’t there been a Nancy chia pet? I’d buy one just to smash it with a hammer. Kind of a twofer, really.

  9. Nancy and Sluggo should not be discussing Transformers or Mini Coopers. They shouldn’t even be using the word “cool.” They’re not allowed. It should always be the Forties wherever they are.
