  3. Stereotypical Native Americans communicate via smoke signals, as opposed to stereotypical modern Americans who communicate via telephone. The smoke signals are indicating that this communication is a “collect call”, by announcing the originator of the “call” and asking the recipient if he wishes to accept the “charges”.

    That doesn’t make it funny, mind.
