Arlo, By Way of OnStar, Rich Tennant and (of course) Nicole

(while back in the real world…)

  1. Kind of a cool example of how much meaning can be conveyed via a couple of ovals and circles.

Given the bedroom setting coupled (npi) with the pharmacy reference, one could infer two separate meanings – is Onstar directing the customer to the “family planning” ailse or to the pharmacist’s counter for some “ED” treatment?

It could be either, but the eyes give it all away.

  2. But while I’m complimenting the cartoonist for the fourth panel, I’m really disappointed about #3. Doesn’t anybody believe in internal logic anymore????? Its a ludicrous stretch to consider opening a bottle to be an extension of the OnStar system and pushing it in that direction, IMHO, takes away form the literal but absurd extension in panel 4.

  3. I guess the joke in panel 3 is the way the guy worded it: “I can’t get to my beer”, thus turning it into a problem of transportation and therefore one that OnStar can handle.

  4. The fourth panel seems open to interpretation to me. The two are sitting side by side, so the pharmacy trip could be for anti- snoring remedies. That said, I think everyone else is right on this one.

  5. The third panel is supposed to illustrate an extension of OnStar’s ability to unlock vehicle doors. Taken that way, it’s not that much of a stretch.

  6. I did send this in as an Arlo!, but with all the poop jokes that were being posted, I thought the second panel needed some attention as well.

Do we REALLY want Onstar watching us as we take care of our biological necessities ???
