Took three generations for somebody to acknowledge this, huh?

  1. Reminds me of Monty Python’s “Travel Agent” sketch.

  2. No it doesn’t.

  3. Ha!

  4. Brien, I told you already, I’m not allowed to argue with you unless you’ve paid!

  5. Having grown up with a last name beginning with Z and having parents whose last names each begin with Z (different last names, no less), I understand this one completely. One thing to note, however, is that it takes only one generation to acknowledge this, but it seems to be acknowledged every generation and never passed on to the next. I have had a couple of teachers who went in reverse alphabetical order to appease people like me and my line buddies, but I never liked going first, so that kind of backfired on me.

I think Bart said it best. “Yes! I love being a S-S-S-S-Simpson!”

  6. This brings to mind Norman Foote’s song “Zachary Zack (Always in the Back)”, which used to be one my older son’s favorites.

  7. Recently, I was in a ceremony with about 150 people to be called up by name, and was feeling pretty good because my name began with C.

Then the guy running it said he was going to start with the letter F, and cycle around, dammit.

  8. Maybe it’s my settings, but the righthand sidebar (“your most recent comments) is cutting off the comments…and youre commentary, Bill! (Heck, it’s even cutting off my own comment as I type — I know other words are there, but nothing between “and” and “commentary” is visible to me.)

Just wanted to tell you in case it isn’t just a problem for me.

  9. Not just with you; I can barely read the comments.

  10. Off topic here, bnut there’s a big ugly “recent comments” box running down the rifght side of the cidu page that covers most of the punch lines and prevents linking to any “comments” above this comic. I thought that the punch lines (such as they are) and the comments were the heart of this page, and it’s really frustrating not to be able to see them…

  11. Reminds me of a funny story (amused me anyways). My brother (a teacher at the time) told me off seniors walking off soccer field deciding that that day was “noogie anyone who’s last name begins with a J day”.

“Hey freshman – what’s your name?”

    “Jones – starts with a silent Q”
