Okay, I’ve heard of sea monkeys; SKI monkeys, though… I don’t get it

At least I assume those are monkeys…

The comic originally in this spot (for just under an hour) turned out to have been painfully obvious and has been shunted off here

  1. […] I’m not quite sure on what to say about this post made by Ask Moxie. […]

  2. No offense, Bill, but I think this one slipped by because it’s as obvious as the cold turkey.
See, with their prehensile tails, monkeys wouldn’t need a ski lift chair, they would just hook their tails over the cable and ride up…

  3. That has the potential to be really painful at certain points in the journey, doesn’t it?

  4. Then they must be New World monkeys then…

  5. I’ve heard of howler monkeys, but I’ve never heard of Whistler monkeys…

  6. #4 GROAN

I didn’t even notice the monkeys hanging by their tails; my eye was drawn to one flailing around on the bottom. And I still don’t think it’s funny.

  7. When I first saw this one, published in my local paper, in black-and-white and itsy-bitsy size, I couldn’t tell what was going on. I couldn’t make out what any of the monkeys were doing. The ones on the lift were indistinguishable from blobs. When I next saw it in color online, I could tell what the cartoonist was going for. While I got it then, I didn’t think I was much better off for having got it.

  8. This is just bad… on so many levels.
    It’s a weak joke.
The composition is dreadful (inane distractions in foreground… tiny visual gag in the background).
The drawing is below 3rd class.

And why is the cable tower leaning like that?

  9. I’ve looked at this thing for 2 days now and still I’m baffled. The first monkey coming down the mountain doesn’t appear to be enjoying himself, so why would any of them bother going skiing anyway. He’s shedding. Uh, why? And what’s up with the hands above their heads. Never seen this comic anywhere else. Maybe this is why.
