The Man Who Invented Surfboarding

I don’t know about anybody else, but I find the mental image of Al Gore gloating — or even smiling — scarier than global warming.

But seriously… since he probably wouldn’t be gloating, what’s the joke here?

  1. There’s no joke if you refuse outright to accept the gloating premise.

  2. Global Warming leads to (a) giant Tsunami in the streets of and (2) Certain Knowledge that Al Gore was Right.

These lead to (1) Al surfing and (2) Other people running around in panic – which is not happening, which is the joke. I guess.

Or perhaps they’re just standing around to make it clear how dry Wiley’s humor is?

  3. Yes, the global warming leads to rising sea levels, thus the big wave. That presumably is Al Gore surfing along it, uh, Gloating.

  4. I thought the joke was this idiot being more upset about Al’s gloating than the fact that a tsunami is in the middle of destroying his neighborhood.

  5. I thought this was hilarious. It’s just an “I told you so” or an “f-you” to those who have been denying the facts. And the fact that Al Gore is too much of a diplomat to do such gloating is what makes it so unexpectedly funny.

  6. That ain’t Gore. It’s Kerry windsurfing after being demasted by the swift boaters.

Ah, now there’s the funny. Thanks Mike.

  8. I think it’s actually an unintentional joke right back at the conservatives – that Wiley Miller would think that Al Gore would be happy about being right and not distressed that the end of the world was nigh. It’s a shame that people can’t see past the politics and needing to win, and just do the right thing because it’s the right thing. It’s all about egos and us versus them – that’s why we’re still in Iraq now, and that’s why our country is going down the toilet in general. Bah humbug!
