Oh, and what is the answer?

First cat-related LOL ever!

Nicole: This Tom Toles got me twice, once for the main joke and then again with his little comment on the bottom:

Lola offered this as a lol, and Nicole as an Arlo. I don’t know… To me, it was just one of FBOFW’s painfully-awkward set-ups to allow a character to respond with a quip — the variation here being that Mike’s was unintended: he was a victim of Lynn’s manipulations rather than a beneficiary of them. But… if it made people laugh, it did its job.

Lots more lol

  1. The first one is a CIDU for me; I’m trying to visualize it, and I can’t.

  2. Bah! This F-minus makes no sense. You can’t perform the Heimlich maneuver on yourself.

Bill, I’m glad you’re enjoying working your way through the PBF archives. PBF is one of my favorite comics.

  3. Cedar, it’s a reference to parents telling their children “When I was your age, I had to walk to school five miles, barefoot, in the snow, even in summer, uphill both ways”

  4. AH – Actually, you can perform the Heimlich Maneuver on yourself using the back of a chair or a fence post or something similar … assuming you are still conscious, of course. An excellent thing to know should you ever need to. I saw instructions (for doing it yourself) that said to repeat until the object dislodges. Like if it didn’t work the first time you’d be tempted to play solitare or something.

Now, autoCPR, that would be difficult.

  5. But Autumn, he wouldn’t KNOW that, would he, since his search was unsuccessful?

  6. Re: #1: The dog has short hind legs and long fore legs. On any slope he will be walking “uphill”.

  7. # 3 I get that. But how would be have to walk uphill? Because his front legs are longer than his back ones? That really isn’t “uphill.”

  8. Well, hey, I’ve learned something from the comics again. If I ever end up using this, it could be a great newspaper article about how the comics saved my life.

  9. The crossword puzzle answer is obviously “monks” (monkeys)

  10. He misspelled Heimlich maneuver, and expired before he could search for the correct spelling

  11. The judge comic reminded me of this Monty Python Skit
