  3. You know — I saw this same strip on another site — I still don’t get it –LOL

Seriously folks, Bill has a great site — does a lot of work — what is the big deal that he also wants to make some money at it — yeesh !!!!!

  4. The big deal is that he should do that work for us, not for the money! Don’t you love us, Bill?

  5. Love don’t pay the billz. Don’t want to support the site financially? Don’t click n’ shop.

Ten years ago when I had a site, I topped out at around $4.17 in commission money. Hardly raking it in.

  6. A whole $4.17? What was your secret???

Truly I don’t know why I bother at all putting up ads. Maybe I just keep hoping somebody will someday log onto amazon.com and buy a Picasso.

  7. What cracks me up is the quanity button (goes up to 30), and some of the user reviews. If you DO buy that book, be sure to click through Bill’s banner first so he gets commission.

  8. Take it easy folks. If Bill had taken one of my suggestions (admittedly not one of my best), there’d be an ad alongside every comic. Thankfully he’s got a little more discretion than that.

  9. As I said — I don’t mind that Bill has a ‘sponsor’ and when I buy something for Amazon I try to use his link. The site brings is a lot of fun and one of my favorites. I like to think of it as a little payback for Bill.

BTW – If you are so inclined, you can copy the link to Amazon at the top of this page and put it in your bookmarks. That way every time you go to Amazon you can make a donation and not even think about it.

  10. So, Bill – How does it work? Do you get paid anything if we click through to Amazon, or only if we buy something? I do buy from Amazon with some regularity, but if my browsing their site can help, I’ll run that through your link, too.

  11. Dan, they only pay me something for sales. There’s a search box on the old page (http//www.comicsidontunderstand.com) which unfortunately isn’t compatible with WordPress. Anything you access using that gets credited to CIDU.

The text ads on the old CIDU page are pay-per-click.

    Thanks for asking.

  12. Isn’t there a program through Amazon that allows people to “pay” for viewing your site via voluntary contributions? As far as ads, are you sure you can’t put that search box on here? Have you tried experimenting with sidebar widgets? You can put code into a text widget – that might work. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you can always e-mail me.

  13. Ron, WordPress doesn’t seem to accept anything but text and links in the sidebars — but if there’s a trick to this, I’d sure appreciate being let in on it.

Also, I don’t know of any Amazon “tip jar.” There’s one for PayPal but again, WordPress doesn’t seem to recognize it.
