As far as I can see, the guy has a squirrel-shaped loofa and therefore didn’t realize there was a real squirrel in his shower. I kind of hate to think about what body part he tried to clean first.
If there’s more (or less) to this comic, I trust somebody will let me know.

if this was me, it would not be surprising for me to scare the @#%^ out of myself with the squirrel-shaped loofah, thinking it was a real squirrel. maybe it sounds crazy, but that’s the only thing *I* can think of . . .

First thing in the morning, in the shower, possibly without glasses or contacts you need, you might forget that the squirrel shape in the shower is that novelty loofah you bought. The realization hits your sleep-fogged brain AFTER you’ve committed to the ill-advised panic-lurch.

I imagine a real squirrel found the squirrel shaped loofah, and became enamoured with it.
Then this guy walks in, starts taking a shower, and eventually interrupts the “couple” …

Ha, that’s actually funny and pretty descriptive for amateur erotica.
As for the CIDU, it’s a simple matter of mistaken identity. A squirrel shape in the shower is not a good thing to see in the morning, loofah or not.

I’m going totally off track here and wonder if the thing in panel 3 is a squirrel. Its tail doesn’t look squirrelish at all. If it were a dog, the strip would make sense, since dogs go nuts over squirrels. I can see a dog attacking a shower curtain if he thought a squirrel were behind it.

I was picturing the long, bushy tail and figured that when he was started scrubbing his back he got “probed” a little farther down than he’d expected.

Scott, are you talking about the two parallel lines between the bottom of the shower curtain and the tub rim? I thought that was the guys hairy leg. Since his hand is going out the top that would be the way he is falling. JMO

Ac. The grommet looks like an eye, and the ring looks like a mouth.
However, since we see neither a squirrel nor a dog, I’m still going with the dog hypothesis. Some dogs love the shower (my Golden does,) dogs chase squirrels, and it is more likely a dog will be in the bathroom than a squirrel.
If not that, him thinking it is a real squirrel seems more likely, though I’ve never seen a squirrel be as still as a loofah would be.

Given the character, scaring himself into thinking he’s been attacked by a squirrel in the shower is by far the most likely answer.
At least, that’s how I answered it when I read it. Didn’t think it was funny, but then that strip seldom is. (but when it’s funny, it’s _really_ funny.)
