Okay, I understand that Hump Day means the middle of the week when people shift over to weekend-is-coming mode (though I confess I only heard the term for the first time about a year ago). What I don’t get is why Boyd is smirking, unless it’s only because “hump” is a slang term for sexual intercourse.

And yes, we are updating seven days a week now.

  1. Oh come on.. you only get to wish people a “happy [something sex-related] day” once a week and have them happily return the greeting. Totally worth it.

    For, uh… Boyd, of course.

  3. It’s actually short form for the Humpty Dumpty tragedy. Alas, football shall never be the same.

  5. It’s a callback to our Jump Start thread earlier in the week, Kevin.

  6. Yes, I screwed up my little joke. I’m not sure if it’s closer to 5 or to 8 years I’ve been reading CIDU.

“Back in the day, we use ta’ wait a whole week for an update. An’ come Sunday, we’d start hitting that refresh until it came. sometimes ’til Thursday! Then came the long…. winter (or maybe it was summer. It felt very cold without an update for so many months). But it came, it came back, for all of us who waited and then some.”

  8. btw, thanks for honoring us with your presence, Kevin. And also for answering the question, “What do cartoonists do all day after they’ve drawn their cartoon?”

Or maybe even before, for all I know… 😉
