  1. What we have here is a pretty funny gag that is made difficult to follow by a cartoonist who is being too subtle. See, there were two cakes – one filled with puppies, the other with a hit-man but they somehow got mixed up. So the mob boss gets cute puppies and the Kennel club gets whacked.

  2. This one goes on my personal LOL list!

  3. This one made me laugh, but it also bugs me a little. Mr. Red Suit and Mr. Brown Hat are clearly in on the plan, as indicated by their surprised expressions in panel 2. And the plan is apparently to have Mr. Green Suit pop out of the cake and fire at indiscriminately at everyone in the room. So why are Mr. Red Suit and Mr. Brown Hat in the room at all?

  4. Mr. Red and Mr. Brown are probably just standing up after hitting the floor.

I’m surprised the “Basebugs” strip isn’t here instead. The webcomic version works fine, but the spiderweb is lost in the otherwise-perfect print version of “Trial Of Colonel Sweeto.”

  6. I didn’t get it at first either, but those dogs are so adorable, I couldn’t help but smile.

  7. Well someone at that giant novelty cake delivery company is going to be receiving a couple of sternly worded letters, I’ll wager.

  8. I bet the hitman received directions along the lines of “… and then shoot everyone who isn’t the two of us!” Then, I only say that because that’s what I thought of after it was bugging me for the same thing.

  9. Oh, I get it. I’ve seen this comic before and it finally makes sense. Thanks

  10. Hello? When Slim popped out of the cake he was supposed to whack Miggs. Not blast everyone in the friggin room. No, he was supposed to pop up, hesitate just a second to allow Miggs to realize what was about to happen as well as make sure that the Boss and the other guy were clear, and then, before Miggs could start screaming or pull his pistol or anything, squeeze off a nice 5 round burst into Miggs’ gut. Instead, he popped up into the middle of a room full of citizens. They all saw him; it couldn’t be helped. The Chicago Kennel Club had to be silenced. Clearly Slim was not happy about, but what’s a fellow to do.
