  4. Something to do with the melting ice caps, perhaps?, what with Santa living at the North Pole and all…

  5. I used to tell my kids that santa got hit by a jet airliner and that Christmas had been cancelled. Then when they woke up and saw all the presents they were relieved.

  6. Actually, the North Pole melting has been the story line for a couple of weeks, at least.

  7. One of my sisters was trying to convince our little 8 year old brother that she killed Santa. It was pretty horrible, really, but he kept insisting she was lying. She may have been trying to instill within him a transitional phase between belief in Santa and non-belief. I think she was just messing with him, though.

I think #2 got this one.

  8. Actually, it was foreshadowed – look at the comics for 12/13-15 and 12/21. And yeah, Papa couldn’t manage to buy gifts – “He’s busy tryin’ t’ stay afloat his self!”
