Something You Want to Send Me?

If you have a CIDU, or something for the Arlo, Ewww or ChadWatch collections, please e-mail them to cidumay2004 (at) yahoo.com (If you post it here in the Comments section, I might or might not see it). It would be best if you could send me both the comic and the comic’s URL, because sometimes a comic sent as an attachment doesn’t make it through, nad sometimes URLs stop working.

  1. Hey Bill — this is pretty trivial but could you reformat so that the eamil address and each
subject is on a separate line — this will make cut and paste a lot easier

    Thanks

  5. Great site!

    2 quick questions:
    1. Where should we be looking for the April May updates? Will they be posted here or at http://www.comicsidontunderstand.com/oldcom ?

    2. Is there any way to have the site show me which comics have the latest comments?

Is “Made in China” the warning label? or is there another, invisible, warning label?

  8. How do we get to the Arlo page, now that it’s password protected? I tried the “Clinton’s girlfriend” password, but it didn’t work.

  10. Ditto question 11. What is the password for the Arlo page?

    Comment by crit74 — August 2, 2007 @ 6:15 pm

  11. The password is the first name of Clinton’s most well-known girlfriend. Remember to capitalize the M

  14. I’m not sure where to make a comment about this, but isn’t there some way to separate the comments on the Arlo page so that the comments that pertain to one comic are all together? Not that I don’t think the site is great overall. šŸ˜‰

  15. I was thinking the same thing about the Arlo! page — maybe the answer is to set up another blog — comics that make me go Arlo! Oh and the same problem will happen with the EWWW page

  16. The Argyle Sweater is definitely Arlo worthy again on the 18th. Those are all dog butts.

  20. Hi,

Firstly, thanks for the wonderful site.

Secondly, is there any easy way to jump from a CIDU entry to the original web page on which the comic appeared?

    Thanks.

    Comment by Pinny — October 24, 2007 @ 4:56 pm

  21. Pinny, if it’s a comic strip that’s appeared here often, there’s probably a link to the strip’s homepage in the right-hand column. A link to the page on which that specific strip appeared (other than being somewhat useless, since you’re already seeing the strip) wouldn’t really work, since most of the comics I use are e-mailed to me, and most strips don’t remain archived online for more than a few weeks.

  22. Makes sense.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

  23. Today’s (Oct 24) Crankshaft has sparked harsh words both among comics fans and victims’ advocates.

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/comics/crankshaft.html

Some say it’s just Crankshaft’s own Archie Bunker-like personality, but others are wondering if Batiuk was implying that old ladies don’t get raped because they’re not sexy. This isn’t just factually inaccurate (old ladies are raped all the time; in fact they’re a prime target for stranger rapists) but seems to imply that rape victims are to blame for their attacks because of their looks.

Also, aren’t elderly people mugged all the time? So what the heck is Crankshaft saying?

  25. Regarding the “Lois Bailey” question…. that’s deinitely one for the Ewwww Files!

    Comment by L.B. Wylie — November 7, 2007 @ 3:17 pm

  26. I don’t know… she kind of cute for a comic strip character.

    Comment by Cidu Bill — November 7, 2007 @ 3:49 pm

  27. Sure she’s cute, but she’s probably old enough to be his mom… and she’s *such* a mom that it just creeps me out. It would have been fine if Arlo had named Blondie as the object of his fantasy. Sure, she’s old enough to be his grandmother, but she’s such a cougar with the high heels and tight clothes…

    Comment by L.B. Wylie — November 7, 2007 @ 11:56 pm

  28. If she’s old enough to be Arlo’s mom, she certainly doesn’t look it. I’d peg Arlo as being a good ten years older.

    Comment by Cidu Bill — November 8, 2007 @ 12:06 am

  29. Hi & Lois first appeared in 1954, and Chip was 8 years old at the time. Even if Lois gave birth to him at 18, that would make her 79 this year. Blondie started in 1930, and married Dagwood in 1933 – but as I said, she’s still one hot cougar. Would she be a Grand-MILF?

    Comment by L.B. Wylie — November 8, 2007 @ 2:25 am

  30. We had a lot of comments these last couple of weeks about depressing themes in comics (e.g., Cancer in “Funky Winterbean”, stroke in “For Better or for Worse”). Well, this commentary finally made it onto the comics page itself.

This past Sunday’s “Single & Confused” strip by Matt Janz (I think that the strip used to be called “Out of the Gene Pool”) specifically addressed these two instances of comics having depressing themes.

    See it at:
