It’s conforting that there are still some constants in life… like Scott Hilburn’s poop jokes.
One more for the Ewww Files, of course.

Just a random thought here… Ever notice how cartoonists use eyeglasses as a shorthand for “not being able to see well” — when in fact eyeglasses, you know, tend to correct that problem? You never saw Mister Magoo wearing eyeglasses, after all.
Which brings to mind, especially since the season approaches… Has there ever been a better version of A Christmas Carol than Mister Magoo’s? I mean seriously. Okay, sure, Alastair Sim… but consider the achievement of remaining true to Dickens’ book, being entertaining, scary and family-friendly all at once, and doing it all in low-budget cartoon.
This movie was, of course, the peak of Magoo’s career. I don’t think either of my kids know who he is, though they did both see this movie many years ago.
Borderline: Not quite LOLs, but a couple of definite grins:
For some reason, almost all the comics that made me laugh out loud this month were published on October 11.
Julie:
Lola: Hey, and I was at work when it happened!
Nicole:
Wendy:
This was on Jim Moore‘s LOL list, while Nicole submitted the same comic as a groaner:

Nicole: And the poops go on …. the poops go on (rejected Sonny and Cher lyrics)
So now I am really convinced that anytime Scott Hillburn can’t think of a joke he does one using dung beetles. Do you think there will be enough for a collection — it could be called “Dung in Cheek”
She also sent along this Argyle Sweater comic which doesn’t quite fall into either the Arlo or Ewww categories, but is quite unsettling (in case you can’t make it out from the drawing, the squirrels aren’t showing skin but rather removing skin).
Is it my imagination, or has this been a pervasive theme in comics over the past few weeks?
Then again I think most of the comics have been Argyle Sweater, so maybe Scott Hilburn has been having issues — or, like Bil Keane claims to do, getting some of his ideas from his six-year-old son.
(More of the Ewww Files here)
And no doubt inspired by this strip…
There’s no interpretation of today’s Argyle Sweater strip that doesn’t place it on the Arlo Page. The syndicate’s editors must have been napping when this one came by.
As always, the password is the name of Bill Clinton’s most famous girlfriend (don’t forget to capitalize the M).
After I uploaded A Comic That Made Me Laugh Out Loud in July, several of you mentioned comics that made you LOL in July. A couple of you sent me the comics themselves:
Nicole: Looks like Scott Hilburn might be running out of ideas — this is the second dung beetle joke in two weeks
Okay, I’m assuming they all ate Big Bird without cooking him properly — and that you’ll all quickly correct me if I’m wrong. This one, on the other hand, remains a mystery to me:
This is, of course, where we place comics not for the young, the offendable, or many places of business. I’m trying to work out a way, using WordPress, to separate it from the main page. For now, I’ve placed it here and password-protected it (type in the first name of Bill Clinton’s girlfriend; if you don’t know it, you’re probably too young).
It’s a fairly clumsy solution, but it’ll do for now.
Update: Okay, now it works.
Update: I’ve since discovered this is not The Far Side, but rather Scott Hilburn’s The Argyle Sweater. Not sure whether Scott is Gary Larsen’s illegitimate son, though…
