I think it’s funny because it doesn’t matter whether it’s difficult to get to or from the mother-in-law’s cottage, they’re both thinking it would be perfect for the other one’s mom. SOLD!

Wrong direction; it’s difficult for the M.I.L. to mosey over to the main house on a whim.

Unless she goes out the back door, then it’s as easy as pie.

Assuming it HAS a back door…

I like the fact that the MIL’s door is painted red, and the first obstacle is an angry bull. (Although, technically, this is just a cartoon stereotype, as cattle are color-blind).
Comment by Liz — October 9, 2007 @ 7:36 am
Cattle are not color-blind. Common misconception.
Comment by Carl — October 9, 2007 @ 7:44 am
color-blind or not, the Mythbusters just proved that bulls don’t find the color red offensive (it’s the movement of the red flag, not its color, that gets their attention)

Awesome show, Mythbusters.
They also proved that bulls have no particular animosity toward China shops…
Comment by Brian Leahy — October 9, 2007 @ 10:14 pm
I’d think it would be the china shops that have an animosity toward bulls
Comment by Cidu Bill — October 9, 2007 @ 10:16 pm
1) Mythbusters also checked out the “bull in a china shop” idea and found the bovines quite graceful at avoiding the china.
2) “Mother-in-law’s House” is actually a term of art, describing a type of building, not necessarily who lives there.

I’m trying to tell what that first obstacle from the main house is. A moat with piranha? Man-eating plants?
Comment by Todd — October 13, 2007 @ 3:52 pm
the idea is… that the couple’s supposed to tell one of the “m.i.l.s” that she could live near them …but can’t get to them
*evil laugh*

OK folks, nobody figured this out? There’s an old pop/doo wop song by an artist named Ernie K-doe in which he sings about his mother-in-law…describing he in among other ways as “the worst woman I know”. Search for it and you will be amused by the song and the comic.
